Goal setting should be defined into four broad categories; process and result-oriented goals and short and long-term goals.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Divide your goals into process goals, which are the actions themselves that lead to your performance.

  2. Step 2

Focus on small attainable goals that add up to the larger goal.

  3. Step 3

    Chart your progress.

Tips & Warnings
  • Process goals are typically goals that you have control over: adequate training, adequate preparation and adequate hydration.
  • Result goals are typically goals that include variables that you do not have control over: running a certain time is affected by weather conditions that you cannot control or winning an event can be a function of your competitors' performance.
