How to Use Private Label Rights for My Ezine

Private label rights (PLR) articles arose in the early days of the Internet out of a need for webmasters to get content easily and inexpensively for their Web sites. Thanks to some savvy and successful Internet marketers, the use of PLR articles really proliferated. Then, search engines decided to penalize Web sites for duplicate content. But that's not the end of the story.

Much of the fear about duplicate content with regard to PLR articles is unfounded. You can still find a use for them on your Web site and in your ezine if you go about it the right way.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Search for PLR on the search engines. Many marketers sell PLR articles and some give them away for free with their product offers. That's the easy way to acquire them.

  2. Step 2

Another way to acquire PLR articles is to join a PLR content membership site like Constant Content or Nicheology (see resources). You'll have to pay a fee to join but most of them require a one time fee and you get unlimited use of the articles that they offer. The good PLR membership sites limit their membership to a few hundred members or limit the use of specific articles then take them off the market once the limit is reached.

  3. Step 3

Rewrite the articles. Whatever method you use to acquire PLR articles, you still need to rewrite. Now, why would anyone buy articles then rewrite them? It's because of the duplicate content rule. Google has the strictest policy and they aren't doing a very good job of filtering out all of the duplicate content right now. But it is generally recognized that they are getting better at it and will improve on their processes. Eventually, duplicate content will not be accepted at all. That's good. Unique content is always best. Rewrite.

  4. Step 4

Don't just change a sentence here or there. Rewrite the articles. Do a little extra research on your topic and add some details not in the article. Take out a few details. Rearrange paragraphs. Go to great lengths to rearrange the article so that it isn't recognized.

  5. Step 5

    Reprint it.

  6. Step 6

    Reprint it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Duplicate content is not an issue with ezines. Still, why publish the same thing that 2,000 other publishers published last year?
  • Don't go overboard. If you're entire Web site or everything in every ezine you publish is PLR, you'll lose credibility. At some point you'll want original content--and your readers will demand it.
