You’ve got a great site setup. It’s full of information and you can’t wait to get in touch with everyone to let them know. Even more than that, you want to be sure that the people who already know about your site are among the first to know when you add a new product or service. A quick email is a great way to keep in touch with friends. It’s also a great way to keep your name and your site fresh in your customers’ minds. You’re ready to go. You’ve found the template you want to use and you’ve found a list manager to keep track of your subscribers. But now that you’re ready to publish, you realize that you need one more thing to make your ezine successful: content.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Time to read potential content
  • Internet connection
  • A plan for what types of content you want or need
  • Knowledge of your readers

Step1
Make a list of all the things that you want your readers to learn about from your ezine. This can be an emerging trend in your business or a new feature for your product.
Step2
Read your forums to see what information your customers need. Don’t have a forum? Check your inbox to see what questions your customers are asking.
Step3
Research your keywords to see if there is anything going on in your industry that you aren’t aware of.
Step4
Create some of the content yourself.
Step5
Consider getting in touch with someone in your field that you respect and ask them to write a guest column for your ezine. Don’t want to ask them to write something new for you? Ask to reprint something they have already written.
Step6
Check article directory sites for content that matches your ezine. Many authors submit articles to these sites so that their information will be widely available.
Step7
Willing to pay for content? Hire someone who will write content to your specifications.

Tips & Warnings

  • Whether you write the content yourself, feature a guest writer, use free content or pay for articles, make sure that all of the content you include is relevant to the site you are promoting.
  • When using articles from a directory site, be sure to read the terms of use. Many sites will require that you keep the author box in tact.
  • Always keep your reader in mind while creating your ezine.
  • Be careful to avoid plagiarism. If you pay for content, you may purchase the copyright as well, but this is not the case with free article directories.
  • Don’t include content in your ezine that is not relevant to the service or product that you provide.
