When you are searching for a particular term on Google, don’t you wish that your search results would encompass related terms and synonyms of the word you're searching for? Google's "Advanced Search" allows you to do just that. You can obtain more results by performing a synonym search. Here is how to do it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Go online and visit the Google home page (see resources).
Step2
Enter the word you want to search preceded by a tilde (~) sign.
Step3
Try this feature by using any term, such as "food." Type "~food" in the search box and you will also get search results for terms such as cooking, nutrition, recipes, restaurants, cuisine and many more.
Step4
Specify synonyms by using the "OR" operator or the "|" vertical bar operator. For example, search keywords "blouse OR shirt OR top" or "blouse|shirt|top" will return search results for web sites that contain either blouse, shirt or top, but will not search for web sites that contain none of these words.
