With Google your search is not just limited to English. Google search preferences let you search for webpages written in a specific language. Whether you are speaking anything from Mandarin Chinese to Brazilian Portuguese you will likely find what you're looking for using the Google search engine. In the following steps we’ll see how to do that.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Go online and visit the Google homepage.
Step2
Click on the preferences link beside the search box.
Step3
Select a language of your choice from the list in the search language section.
Step4
Clicking on the language tools link beside the search box will also get you where you need to go.
Step5
Select a language of your choice from the drop-down menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you always search in one or more specific languages, you can select them and set them as your default search behavior in the Preferences section.
  • If you can’t find your preferred language on the list, you can help Google set it up by joining the volunteer translator program at http://services.google.com/tcbin/tc.py.
  • Be aware that by choosing a specific language you may be limiting the reach of your search since it will ignore relevant information in other languages. It is always advisable to use the search in all languages option.
