Google offers Creative Commons customized search. Creative Commons offer a range of licenses which are an improvement on the all rights reserved copyrights and provide some rights reserved protection for authors, artists and educators. Here is how to search for books with a Creative Commons license in Google.

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet connection
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Google search homepage.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the Advanced Search link beside the search box.

  3. Step 3

    Set your preferences to free to share, use or modify in the Usage Rights section.

  4. Step 4

    Enter your book keyword in the search box and click on Google search. If Google finds a book containing your search terms in its Book Search index, it will display a link at the top of the search results page under Book Results.

  5. Step 5

    Alternatively, go to the Creative Commons Web site (see Resources) and make a Google search. This can be done by clicking on the Google tab and entering your book keyword.
