How to Open Google Search Results in a New Window

For greater convenience in searching, Google lets you open search results in a new window. By default the results are displayed in the same window. Here’s how you can set preferences to open Google search results in a new window.

Difficulty: Easy

1. Go to the Google homepage, www.google.com.
2. Click on the Preferences link beside the search box.
3. Check the box adjoining the Results Window section.
4. Click Save to save your preference.
5. Alternatively, hold down the shift key while clicking on a search result. This will open the link in a new window. You can even right click on a link and select the ‘open in a new window’ option.
