Step1
Go online and pull out the home page of your favorite search engine, such as Google or Yahoo.
Step2
Search using keywords such as ‘NYC restaurants’ and note that a long list of results will come up. View some of the Web sites and see if any catch your fancy.
Step3
Visit popular dining and restaurant-oriented Web sites (see below).
Step4
Go to www.menupages.com, a Web site that specializes in providing online menus of numerous NYC restaurants.
Step5
Search by specifying your area or neighborhood. NYC is made up of 5 boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island. Search by using the name of each borough to find restaurants in those areas.
Step6
Narrow down your search further by specifying the exact neighborhood of the borough you are looking at. Some of the popular neighborhoods with great eating establishments are Brooklyn, Chelsea, Chinatown, East Village, Financial District, Gramercy Park, Greenwich Village, Little Italy, Lower East Side, Midtown East, Midtown West, Astoria, SoHo, TriBeCa, Upper East Side and Upper West Side. Search by highlighting these areas.
Step7
Search by type of cuisine. American, Italian, Jewish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Lebanese, Latin, Ethiopian or any other type of cuisine that you want to explore--chances are that NYC has a restaurant serving that type of food.
Step8
Search by name of the restaurant. If you know the name of the restaurant, use that name in the search box and specify NYC or New York along with it.
Step9
Search restaurants by price range. Use keywords such as cheap, inexpensive, budget, moderate, expensive, fancy, etc. to refine your search.
Step10
Search by features you are looking for in the restaurant. Use keywords such as bar, pub, 24 hours, coffeeshop, celeb spotting, breakfast/brunch, live music, kid friendly, Prix-Fixe, romantic, good for groups and so on.
