How to Draw a Giraffe
Alright, budding artists, we are going to draw a giraffe. This drawing of a giraffe should be easy enough for kids and artistically-challenged adults alike. Follow these steps and remember to use a pencil with a good eraser.
Instructions

1
Draw an oval. Make it about 6 inches wide and 4 inches tall. Center it horizontally on the page and about 6 inches from the bottom of the page. This is the body.
-
2
Draw a very shallow letter J from the left side of the circle upwards. This will be part of the neck. The curve of the J should be so slight that it barely resembles a J but more like a curved line.
-
-
3
Draw another slightly curved line from the top of the circle to about an inch above where the other line ends. This will be the other part of the neck.
-
4
Draw an oval, not quite centered on top of the left neck line. The top of the oval should not go higher than or touch the second neck line. Have it jut out to the left a little bit.
-
5
Draw a line connecting the top oval to the second neck line. The line should start from the right edge of the top oval and connect with the top of the right neck line.
-
6
Draw a 3/4 circle from the top of the right neck line to connect to the top left corner of the top oval. You should now be able to make out the giraffe's, head, body, neck and nose.
-
7
Draw his horns, ears and two dots for eyes. Draw two circles in the top oval for nostrils. Line them up with the eyes so that they would make diagonal parallel lines if you connected the dots.
-
8
Give him a leg. Draw three sides of a rectangle in the bottom left corner of his body. Make the long sides slightly diagonal, so his leg gets bigger as it is closer to his body. Overlap the right line just a little bit into his body. Have the left line stop at the outside of the oval.
-
9
Give him another leg. Put this one in the center of the oval, and have both lines end inside the oval. Make sure the foot is at the same level as the other foot.
-
10
Give him his back leg. Have this one on the right edge of the oval, slightly longer than the other two legs and having the left line overlap the oval just a little bit. The right line should end at the right edge of the oval.
-
11
Give him his last leg. For this one, draw a diagonal line from about 1/2 an inch from the left edge of the middle leg down slightly towards the left leg. Draw a tiny line across for his foot and then up again, ending about half an inch above the middle foot. It should look like this is his back left foot and it is obscured by his right front foot.
-
12
Erase the line between the body oval and the neck. Now he's facing forward instead of looking over his shoulder.
-
13
Draw his four feet. Make each one facing a slightly different direction and be a different size according to the leg it is attached to.
-
14
Give him a little tail and add spots. Write his name at the bottom of the page and hang it up on the fridge.

Tips & Warnings
Draw lightly at first. That way you can erase if you make a mistake.
