Create a MySpace profile to showcase your band and impress your friends. MySpace.com is an easy, free way to expose your music to over 100 million registered users. This popular social networking site allows you to upload up to four mp3s, 16 pictures, and even gives your band its own URL.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Cable/DSL Connection
  • Band's MP3s
  • Band Photos
  1. Step 1

Start by logging on to Myspace.com and selecting the Music Category

  2. Step 2

Click on Artist Signup and follow the steps to register your band. Once you have completed the signup process, go to the MySpace home page and try logging in under your E-Mail and New Password.

  3. Step 3

You will have a New Message in you Inbox from Tom. He will explain how to start adding bands and individuals as your friends. But wait until you are finished designing your profile to invite friends. They will be more impressed with your finished product.

  4. Step 4

In the welcome menu, select Edit Profile and begin filling in Upcoming Shows, Band Details, and Basic Info.

  5. Step 5

While in Edit Profile, select Manage Songs and add up to four copyrighted mp3s. Then select your Page Settings. You can set your music to play on random or set the first song as the default, which will play automatically whenever someone visits your profile.

  6. Step 6

Return to your welcome menu and select Add/Edit Photos. Browse for your pictures and upload them one at a time. You can add up to 16 pictures to your profile.

  7. Step 7

Once you add all of your band’s info, mp3s and pictures, you then need to decide which profile editor to use for the page design. Here are a few editors that are free and easy to use:

Select a Profile Editor and follow the steps and add life to your band’s profile. Change the background color, add a background image, change the page position, text color, table colors and styles, and then generate your new profile by copying and pasting the codes they provide into your Band Details Bio Field.

  8. Step 8

After all of these steps are completed, you can then begin to add friends and take over the world.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your pictures are no bigger than 600K and are GIF or JPG format.
  • Make sure the mp3s are yours. You must own the copyright for the Music you upload.
  • MySpace is a network of over 100 million registered users. Be careful who you befriend, you don’t want people sending you junk messages and comments.
  • For your own safety, never post personal telephone numbers or addresses.
  • Graphic and Nude pictures are prohibited on MySpace. Your account will be canceled if you are discovered by the system administrator.
  • Photos may not contain nudity, violent, or copyrighted images. If you violate these terms your account will be deleted.
