A good source for new music is always readily available from people who have the same passion in music as you. It should be a given that a person working at a record store will know a thing or two about the subject. First off, you will need to head on down to your local record store. It's even better if it is one of those independent record stores. The clerks working there are definitely musically inclined and have a true taste for music.

Once you're at the store, look around, and see if the store has any bulletin board where you can view album picks made by the reps who work there. This will give you a clear idea which rep has your musical taste. If you can't find any indicator at the store that tells you which clerk might be into your kind of music, then it won't hurt to just ask any clerk.

Have an idea what kind of music and sound you're looking for, approach a rep, and ask the rep if he/she has any suggestions.

You may or may not get the answer you want, but it's good to have a store you regularly go to. Being a regular customer will build a relationship between you and the reps working there. Pretty much if you're a regular at an establishment the people who work there will be looking out for you. It'll make it easier for you to ask for advice on music or if you're looking out for an album you'll be the first one they will call.
