Filtering water may sound like a difficult process, but it’s made quite easy with the simple design of a carafe water filter pitcher. Filters can remove impurities that can harm you and your family over time and improve the taste of drinking water. Here’s how to use a carafe water filter.

Step1

Inspect the filter in the carafe. Make sure the filter is fairly new and does not need to be replaced.

Step2

Pour some water into the carafe. Wait for the water to completely pass through.

Step3

Examine the water for specs of contaminants. With usage of any filter for the first time there may be contaminants that make it through the filtering process until the filter is ready.

Step4

Pour more water into the filter and wait until it passes all the way through.

Step5

Inspect the water again for impurities.

Step6

Pour a glass and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure to keep a calendar of any newly replaced water filter so you know when it needs to be replaced.
Use cold water. This enhances the effectiveness of the filter.
Do not use a water filter that has been in use for longer than two months. This will filter very few if any impurities in your water and may actually carry filtered substances into your water pitcher.
Double check the first use of any filter for contaminants to the water. You do not want to drink any specs in the water.
Never use hot water through your filter. This will ruin your filter.
