1
Visit a fabric store in-person or online, and select a window scarf that meets the dimensions of your window. Typically the fabric should be twice as long as the area you will cover, and you can cut the scarf to length as needed.
-
2
Lay chosen fabric on a large flat surface, preferably the floor of the room where it will hang.
-
3
Fold the fabric accordion style, lengthwise. It is up to you how big you would like your folds to be. Secure the folds with safety pins.
-
4
Using stick pins, pin the fabric to the wall in the two places you want the scarf to hang from. The stick pins should be placed next to the brackets or the pole which will support the scarf.
-
5
Thread the ends of the fabric through brackets, or drape over a pole. Remove the safety pins as you go.
-
6
Remove the stick pins from the fabric and even out the ends. Slightly pull down the center of the scarf at the top of the window.
-
7
Step back from window and make your own adjustments. Add ties to the ends or let the fabric hang loose.
