Yes, he is a big, goofy lug. That’s true. But wouldn’t you like to play the big goofy lug who took over Japan? Come on, you know you want to strap a cannon to your back and steal some stuff! Goemon is one of the most eccentric characters in Samurai Warriors and is an absolute hoot to play!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Unlock him to start the fun! To play Goemon, you must start with Kenshin Uesugi and play his story mode through. This unlocks Keiji Maeda.

  2. Step 2

Play Keiji Maeda’s story mode through. This unlocks Okuni.

  3. Step 3

Play Okuni’s story mode through. This will unlock Goemon! Let the fun begin!

  4. Step 4

Break it down! Goemon begins with a skill called “Break”, that is unique to him. Take a look around, especially in castles and Honnouji. See any walls with pictures of Goemon on them? Use his first charge attack or musou attack on them and he will blast them down!

  5. Step 5

Go full speed ahead! Goemon is as big as a Strike Ninja and hits just as hard! If you get going at full speed and slam into a mob, take a second look at them. Chances are, half of them aren't there! Goemon’s running attack hits like a ton of bricks!

  6. Step 6

Sweep them aside. Goemon’s mace/flail is great for clearing out big mobs in next to no time. His third charge attack is one of the best, except for the end, but there’s a way around that.

  7. Step 7

Give him some help. Goemon may be one of the biggest characters, but he is also one of the slowest. Help him out with either a horse (just the view is worth it!) or a pair of tengu sandals.

  8. Step 8

Bring a light! Goemon goes on more castle excursions than just about anyone else. The Lantern, Guiding Doll and Hachiman Bell will all help his treasure hunts.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stop Goemon from being dizzy at the end of his third charge attack by popping his musou attack before he stumbles. This is best used in castles.
  • Goemon is particularly susceptible to rifle and bow attacks because of his slow speed. Giving him the Cloak of Might will help dissipate some of the damage muskets do.
  • Don’t rely on the sandals! While it is true that Goemon can make it over a pit trap with the tengu sandals, he barely makes it and it is much safer to jump than try to run over it.
