How to Master Masamune Date in Samurai Warriors

One of the most ambitious characters in Samurai Warriors, Masamune Date has a sharp tongue, quick temper and--fortunately for him--the muscle to back it up. Using him is easy; mastering him is difficult.

Instructions

1. Unlock him. Masamune is one of the easiest characters to unlock. All you need to do is play through any 2 story modes, and there he is!

2. Mix it up. Lots of Masamune’s moves work well in a variety of situations. Try them out and see what works best for you. If you like to rush into big mobs and tear them up from the inside out, try his second charge attack. If you prefer to simply grind through, use his normal attack string.

3. Charge! Masamune is definitely designed with attacking in mind. Masamune’s swords, wooden as they may be, are as tall as he is! He hits hard and despite his size can take a good deal of punishment.

4. Use his natural speed! Because of his size, Masamune is one of the fastest characters who is not a ninja. Instead of equipping him with the tengu sandals, give him a different item to fill in some of his gaps or to compliment his formidable attack power.

5. Give him some element skills. Masamune works best using a variety of charge and normal attacks. Because he works well with so many attacks, consider spending some of his skill points on element skills. The cost may add up, but it will greatly enhance his ability to deal with large mobs quickly.

6. Boost his attack range. Masamune’s range is a bit on the short side. Invest in his Reach skill as soon as you can!

Tips & Warnings

• Use careful aim! One of the biggest drawbacks with Masamune is his musou attack. Once started, you cannot change direction! Make sure you have a giant mob in front of you or it's simply not worth it!
• Don’t let yourself get swarmed! Early on, Masamune has a bit of difficulty with big mobs. Aim for the group leaders (Captains, Sergenats and officers) and eliminate them quickly.
