Instructions

    • 1

Determine if the chip can be repaired. If the chip is too big, you may need to replace the whole tile.

    • 2

Clean the chipped area with soap and water. Afterwards, make sure to thoroughly dry the tile.

    • 3

Tape the surrounding areas of the damaged tile to protect it from the primer. Apply a small amount of primer to the chipped section of the tile.

    • 4

Paint the damaged section of the tile so that it matches the color and/or pattern of the tile. Do not try to fill in the entire void with paint.

    • 5

When the paint is dry, cover the chipped area with clear epoxy. This will fill in the void and bring the damaged area to the same level as the rest of the tile.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sometimes there are extra tiles left over from the original tiling job. Take one of these to the store to match the paint color.

  • Look in closets or the basement to find leftover tiles.

  • Paint and epoxy can emit harmful gases. Wear protective gear and use a fan to keep the area ventilated.
