1
Open the boxes carefully. HTIB systems usually come in two boxes, one large box containing the speakers and components and a smaller one containing the subwoofer. Save the boxes and packing material in case you have to return anything.
-
2
Read the manual. This will have step-by-step information for setting up your specific system.
-
-
3
Organize your components. Position your components near each other but not necessarily on top of each other. Amplifiers and receivers can create a lot of heat, and you'll want to allow room for air circulation to disperse it.
-
4
Set up the speakers around your viewing area.
-
5
Connect the components. Consult the manual to determine which cables go where. Most of the time, cables, inputs and outputs are color-coded to simplify the process.
-
6
Connect the speakers. Start with the center channel speaker and connect the other speakers one at a time. Each output on the back of your amp is designated for a specific channel, so take your time and be certain about which cable goes where.
-
7
Plug in your system. You may wish to plug your components into a power strip to avoid extension cords and adapters.
-
8
Test your system with a new DVD. Make adjustments as necessary to meet your needs and tastes.

Tips & Warnings
Take your time when setting up your home theater. Do it once and do it correctly.
Save your boxes and the packing material. If you move in the future, nothing will protect your equipment better than the original containers!
Set your center channel speaker above or below the screen. Place your left and right speakers equidistant on both sides of the screen and pointed straight ahead. Mount your surround speakers on the back wall with a screwdriver and the enclosed brackets. The subwoofer should be placed near, but not on, the floor.
Do not attempt to set up your system without reading the manual, since it contains helpful setup information and may prevent you from voiding the warranty by putting things together improperly.
When opening the boxes, make your cuts as shallow as possible to avoid damaging the contents. The tiniest cut on a cable can have a drastic effect on the quality of sound.
Do not use a long knife to cut any tape, as it may scrape or damage the unit inside.
