Free World Dialup VoIP is an Internet telephony system that works very well on your PC as well as with an IP phone and adapter. You can make and receive unlimited calls from others who have the FWD communicator software installed on their computers. Here’s how you can setup Free World Dialup VoIP

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by registering your name. You can download and install communicator at any time. However, by registering your name, you will get an FWD number. This is your phone number through which the FWD internet community will identify you. Make sure you have the number handy and that it is saved properly.

  2. Step 2

Go to the FWD website, www.freeworlddialaup.com. Sign in with your username and password. Click on my.FWD. View your information. You can update your information at any time.

  3. Step 3

Ensure you have a broadband Internet running with a connection speed of 90 kbps. Low speed will not allow you to connect using the communicator software. Upgrade your broadband service in such a situation.

  4. Step 4

Learn how to make and receive PC to PC calls using the FWD. Buy the right accessories—speakers and a microphone. Hook up these accessories to the computer.

  5. Step 5

Connect the headset in the beginning. It has two plugs, one each for the microphone and headphones. Newer versions can have a single USB plug for both. Connect the microphone and/or speakers and you are done with setting up to make PC to PC calls using the FWD.

  6. Step 6

Know how to use your regular Phone with IP enabled adapter. You may have to purchase an FWD Certified IP phone. If so, visit the Web site store. If you already have the phone, learn how to setup before you can start using it.

  7. Step 7

Connect all the cables to setup the IP phone along with the adapter. Configure your phone using standard settings. Enter your FWD number as username and FWD password as the password. Enter ‘fwd.pulver.com’ as the Domain. Enter ‘fwd.pulver.com:5060’ as the SIP proxy and ‘fwdnat.pulver.com:5082’ as the outbound proxy. The Listen RTP Port is ‘8000’ and the Listen SIP Port ‘5060’.

  8. Step 8

Test your phone. Conduct an Echo test. Press 613 for the Echo test. You may also take the Call Me test. Log on to my.FWD account and click on ‘Call Me’ feature. If your phone rings, your connection and setup is complete and in working condition. Refer the ‘Knowledgebase’ and ‘Forums’ link if you experience any problem. Your FWD is now setup to make PC to PC calls as well as using a regular IP enabled Phone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you only use an FWD certified phone to connect and setup regular calling option. If not, you can try using the headphones and microphones to connect.
  • Make sure all the connections are secured. If you have an old computer there may not be a USB port in it or the options of USB ports would be limited and already in use. Consider buying a separate USB expander jack.
