Net2Phone VoIP allows you to use your existing phone and broadband Internet connection to make and receive local and long distance--including international--calls easily and faster. For this you need to set up VoiceLine VoIP as it securely transmits phone calls over the Internet at cheaper rates. Here’s how to setup Net2Phone VoIP.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Phone instrument
  • Telephone Adapter
  • Broadband connection
  1. Step 1

Check your system requirements and accessories before you begin to setup VoiceLine. In order to access and use the service you will require a VoiceLine account and phone number, a broadband Internet connection such as DSL, cable or T1. You will also need an InnoMedia MTA 3328-2R telephone adapter with built-in router or an XJ-100 Wi-Fi Phone. You can buy these from Net2Phone Web site. A PC with Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browser version 5.0 or higher for account management only is also necessary.

  2. Step 2

Install your InnoMedia MTA phone adapter. The WAN will connect your Broadband Internet network with the Ethernet network cable. LAN connects to your PC’s Ethernet port with an Ethernet network cable. Both the phones will connect to an analog telephone with a regular telephone cable.

  3. Step 3

Ensure that you have an external router to connect your InnoMedia MTA. If not, first connect the Ethernet cable that you have received with the MTA device to the LAN port and the Ethernet port of your PC. Then use the regular telephone cable to connect phone1 port on the back of your telephone. Plug in the broadband Internet cable and wait for few minutes for MAT to initialize.

  4. Step 4

Connect the D/C power adapter port on the back of the MTA. The power up can take max 15 minutes as the device downloads the configuration files.

  5. Step 5

Get familiar with the back panel of MTA and status indicators. A steady light indicates the power is on. Blinking slow light suggests that the power is off. If so, the device may have failed to download the configuration files to register it with the SIP server.

  6. Step 6

Refer to the user manual for Net2Phone VoIP connection for configuring the adapter and for troubleshooting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Popular broadband service providers assign a dynamic IP address when you go online, but if you have a static IP address, you will need to know your IP address, netmask and gateway address. Get this information from your Internet service provider as you will need to use this information to configure and setup your VoiceLine VoIP.
