Things You'll Need:
- 1 gallon apple cider or hard apple cider
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 10 whole cloves
- 10 allspice berries
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 4 cups water
- 1 seedless orange, quartered
- 1 to 3 cups brandy or sherry, to taste (optional)
- Brown sugar, to taste

Step 1
In a large saucepan, combine the cider, spices, water and orange. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.

Step 2
Strain the spices from the liquid and return the liquid to the pot. Add brandy or sherry, if desired, and sweeten to taste with brown sugar.

Simmer 10 minutes longer, then serve hot.
