Have you recently bought VoicePulse VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)? Now you can set it up and use the VoIP features offered by VoicePulse. To enable VoicePulse VoIP, you will need to ensure three primary requirements—high speed internet, a router and a touch- tone phone.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    Setting Up the Adapter

  1. Step 1

Make sure your basic requirements to set up VoicePulse are in place. Get a high speed internet connection and verify it from your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Test your internet speed, as the minimum speed necessary is 90 kbps.

  2. Step 2

Isolate your existing phone line. Any voltage fluctuation across the line can damage your equipment. Trace the Network Interface Unit (NIU) near your home.

  3. Step 3

Make sure your phone line is disconnected. Pick up the phone and ensure your phone is dead. If the ring tone persists, call the telephone company or a qualified electrician.

  4. Step 4

Make sure you have a router. You need a compatible router for VoicePulse VoIP connection. To find and buy a compatible router, check out VoicePulse’s website (see link below) or call the customer service. Ideally, you want to use multiple lines with single connections. A router facilitates this purpose.

  5. Step 5

Find out which phone works best with VoicePulse VoIP. Digital phones, found in a majority of offices, are not recommended. A touch-tone phone with regular handset or a cordless works best.

  6. Step 6

Choose the right phone adapter device. You can use your own Sipura SPA-2000, Sipura SPA-2002 or Sipura SPA-3000 to connect to VoicePulse. If you have a Sipura SPA 2000 from VoicePulse, then it most likely comes with two power cables. Use the one that has a removable prong.

  7. Step 7

Connect your VoicePulse VoIP phone adapter. Plug the DLS/Cable modem into the VoicePulse VoIP phone adapter.

  8. Step 8

Plug the adapter into the telephone jack and ensure that the standard telephone cord is plugged in securely.

  9. Step 9

Plug the phone devices into the other jacks provided in the home/office. This is a parallel connection that allows the phone signal to be shared with the other jacks of the home/office.

  10. Configuring the Adapter

  11. Step 1

Activate your VoicePulse service to start using VoicePulse. You will need to configure your phone adapter.

  12. Step 2

Ensure you have 2.0 version firmware for your phone adapter. Check your current version by picking up the phone and dialing ****150#.

  13. Step 3

Reset your SPA. Pick up the phone and dial ****73738#. Press 1 to confirm.

  14. Step 4

Next, get the IP address of SPA. Pick up the phone and dial ****110#.

  15. Step 5

Go to http://a.b.c.d/admin/resync?http://sipura-profiles.voicepulse.com/migrate.xml. Here, a.b.c.d is the IP address of your adapter. Take a note of it and keep it with you for future reference.

  16. Step 6

Wait for 2 minutes for the status light to stop blinking. Wait until the unit reboots and you see a static light.

  17. Step 7

Pick up your phone and wait a few moments for the dial tone. Eventually, you should receive one.

  18. Step 8

Your VoicePulse is now activated and set up to make and receive phone calls.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is important to completely disconnect your previous phone line before using the new VoIP phone. Make sure the wiring is up-to-date in order to avoid any undue damage to your Packet8 VoIP equipment.
  • Pay attention to the wiring. If renting, make sure the building or apartment landlord permits you to modify internal wiring. Seek the right permission before you begin so you avoid any damage.
  • Refer to the manual provided with the package for detailed information on configuration and installation of additional hardware.
  • If you are using an old or existing phone, make sure it is in good working condition. Note that you may not be able to access all the features using an old handset.
  • Phone lines carry voltage, so there is often a risk of fire or equipment damage. Make sure your earlier phone line is fully isolated before you install VoicePulse VoIP.
