How to Be a Good Jedi in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2

While you might think that being a good guy in Knights of the Old Republic 2 is the same as being good in the first game, it's not quite true. While you do follow the same principles to remain good, one factor can totally swing your character toward the light or dark: your companions. Your actions with them ultimately determine not only your alignment, but theirs as well.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ignore Kreia. While her views may seem “neutral,” she will ultimately shift you in a darker direction. Be careful: some of her tidbits can be helpful, but don’t let her lead you astray.

  2. Step 2

Comfort Bao Dur. This old war buddy of yours has seen better days, and harbors great remorse for his actions. Talk to him and convince him that although he did wrong, he can be redeemed. If you gain enough influence with him, you can turn Bao Dur into a Jedi Guardian!

  3. Step 3

Redeem Atton! If there is anyone with skeletons in their closet in Knights of the Old Republic 2, it's Atton! Talk to him and convince him that although what he did was wrong, there is still a place for him by your side. Make sure you have lots of influence with him before you try to turn him into a Jedi. And tread lightly: he’s a very sensitive guy.

  4. Step 4

DO NOT REPAIR HK-47! It's true that he provides amusing dialog and he is a good shooter. But he is also much more devious than he was in the first game, and he WILL turn on you if your aim is to be a good Jedi! If you really MUST repair him, leave him in the ship.

  5. Step 5

Be kind to T3-M4. Though he isn’t that strong, this clever little guy helps you out of a bind early on in Knights of the Old Republic 2 and fixes your ship. He really just wants his existence to be validated and to be told he’s doing a good job. Be nice to him and you’ll find some light points coming your way.

  6. Step 6

Leave Mandalore at the door. Those who have played Knights 1 will recognize this character, even through the helmet. Like HK-47, he is rotten to the core and will lead you down the dark path whenever he can. Ignore him and bring him along only when you have to.

  7. Step 7

Be careful with Visas. This young lady starts out as an assassin, but with a little kindness can be turned into a powerful ally. Be careful bringing her along to Onderon; she sides with General Valku (the bad guy.) Male characters can show her a little extra attention.

  8. Step 8

Spar with the Handmaiden. If your character is male, you will have the opportunity to work with one of the Handmaidens. She respects battle prowess above nearly all else. Spar with her when you can and try your best to defeat her.

  9. Step 9

Bring the Disciple. This gent, found in the ruins of the Jedi enclave on Dantooine (only if your character is female), is shining with light. A soldier for the Republic, Disciple will try to get you to do the right thing at every turn. Listen to him, meditate with him, and you may find yourself with something quite special. Enough influence will turn him into a Jedi Consular.

  10. Step 10

Make friends with Mira! If you are indeed a light-side character in Knights of the Old Republic 2 when you hit Nar Shaddaa, you will be able to pick up Mira. She is closed-up at first, but some friendly talk and a few instances of doing the right thing, and she’ll open up to you. With time, patience and a few friendly (but not too friendly) conversations, she can become a Jedi Sentinel. She will almost always steer you towards the right thing to do.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your repair skill high to keep T3-M4 in good condition. You might find some rewards coming your way.
  • Winning with The Handmaiden and bringing her to enough fights means you will be able to turn her into a Jedi Guardian, gain lots of light points and learn her real name!
  • Kreia can be very manipulative! A lot of her rhetoric is designed to make you see the “neutral” side of things, but in the game world, her “neutral” path is almost invariably a darker one.

on 2/12/2007 ROGER! A JEDI KNIGHT IS THE RESULT OF LEARNING FROM A GOOD JEDI MASTER AND HAVING A GOOD COMPASS TO GUIDE HIM.
HAVE PATIENCE WITH HIM FOR HE MAY BE STUPID BUT DO NOT UNDER-ESTIMATE HIM. LEAD HIM WELL AND HE WILL DO WONDERS.
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU. MY MASTER.
