The iconic image of a witch’s boot is the perfect muse for a Halloween-themed hostess gift. Here’s how to conjure one up.

From Quick Guide: Halloween Gifts
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mid-calf, lace up leather boot
  • Black ribbon or cording
  • Stuffers (for example, candy, cookies, toys, games, mini broom, make-up, black licorice, striped socks)
  1. Step 1

Scour vintage and second hand stores for mid-calf, lace up leather boots that evoke thoughts of a witch’s wardrobe. Don’t worry if they are not black, that’s why shoe polish and spray paint were made! Find a vintage store near you: http://www.fashiondig.com/locator/

  2. Step 2

Salvage the old tattered feel if they already have it or scuff them up to make them look they’ve taken a few trips on a broom.

  3. Step 3

If the laces look too worn (or like mice have been chewing on them), replace with black cording or ribbon. Order cording or ribbon from www.mjtrim.com.

  4. Step 4

Stuff the boot with tricks and treats; candy, cookies, toys, games, a mini broom, wart face makeup, black licorice, striped socks (very witchy), or a spooky music Halloween CD. For a few stuffing ideas check out these sites; www.wishingfish.com, www.orientaltrading.com or type "Halloween Gifts" into your Google search bar.

  5. Step 5

Get your boot and booty to the party!

on 10/10/2008 I had never heard of this tradition, even though I am a huge fan of Halloween hauntings! Thanks for the great idea.
