How to Make No-Sew Curtain Panels

Make curtains with fusible tape and an iron instead of sewing.

If you would love to make your own curtains but do not like to sew, you can make curtain panels without sewing using fusible web tape, which can be found at at fabric or craft stores.

Things You'll Need

• Ironing board
• Scissors
• Fusible web tape
• Fabric
• Iron
• Measuring tape

Instructions

1. Measure your window and decide how long you want your curtain to be.

2. Cut your fabric to the desired length, leaving two to four extra inches for a curtain pocket and two to six inches for a finished hem, if desired. While you are cutting your fabric, set your iron to high heat. After cutting, lay the fabric on your ironing board.

3. Lay the fusible tape across the fabric about two to four inches from the top. Take the remaining fabric that is above the tape and fold it down so it rests on top of the tape. This will make your rod pocket, so make sure it is the correct size to fit your rod. Iron over the fabric that is on top of the tape; this will heat up the tape so that it sticks to the fabric on both sides, making the curtain rod pocket. Iron from one end of the fabric to the other to get a crease-free seam.

4. Go over the fabric several times to ensure that all the tape has fused to the fabric. If you want to make a finished hem, use the same procedure but folding the fabric from the bottom.

Tips & Warnings

• Use a large ironing board to give you enough ironing room.

• Go slowly and take your time when ironing the tape to the fabric.
