Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get familiar with your phone handset. Learn all basic inbuilt functions of the phone from the user’s manual.

  2. Step 2

Learn how to make calls using your Packet8 plan. Maximize the use of your monthly plan. If you have taken an unlimited plan, you can make calls without worrying about additional billing.

  3. Step 3

To make a call within your area code, directly dial the seven-digit number (without the area code) just the way you would make a call from your regular phone.

  4. Step 4

For all calls outside the area code, dial the 11-digit number using 1 as the prefix followed by the number (with the area code).

  5. Step 5

To make an international call, simply dial the International code followed by the number with the area code.

  6. Step 6

Activate and setup your voicemail. Record greetings for incoming calls. Configure the timestamp using your Accounts page by login into the website. Learn how to attach and forward your voicemails through emails. Also, learn how to retrieve voicemails.

  7. Step 7

Configure the caller ID with name feature. Enable the caller ID feature using the Accounts page from the website. Learn how to disable and enable the caller ID feature. To enable the feature Go to Accounts, then Update Account and click the Personal Information tab. Check or uncheck the “Display the name on caller ID on all accounts” option. Save your settings. For disabling caller ID, go to “Block my name on outgoing calls” option in Edit Settings.

  8. Step 8

Press the Flash button or Switch hook to use the call-waiting feature. It allows you to switch calls between two parties when your phone is in simultaneous use. To have undisturbed calling, dial *70 before making a call and the call-waiting feature will be disabled. You can also enable call-waiting ID to view the number of the party calling you when you are on line with another caller.

  9. Step 9

Learn how to use the call-return feature. Press *69 to call the last incoming call on your phone line.

  10. Step 10

  11. Step 11

Learn to manage important calls. Priority calls can be administered with great care by using the Do Not Disturb *78 code. The incoming caller will be informed that you would not like to be disturbed. Dial *79 to deactivate when the conversation is over.

  12. Step 12

Block anonymous callers using *77 when receiving a call. This sends all incoming anonymous calls to your voicemail box. To deactivate this feature, simply dial *87.
