Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Find out the types of HDTV front projection monitors (DLP, LCD, LCoS and CRT).
Step2
Understand DLP projectors. DLP projectors are available in both the 720p and 1080p segments. They offer a very good picture quality but cost more than LCD. Moreover, it also suffers from the rainbow effect. When compared to LCD, it offers a better contrast ratio.
Step3
Acquaint yourself with LCD projectors. The biggest advantage they have over DLP is the number of features including the critical lens shift feature. It is less expensive than DLP but suffers from relatively low brightness and contrast ratio.
Step4
Understand CRT. Not widely used, these projectors are not only weighty but also very expensive.
Step5
Know about LCoS. They offer a very good picture quality topped up with freedom from the rainbow effect. But the flipside is their extremely high prices.
