When it comes to satellite HDTV, there are two names to choose from – Dish Network and DIRECTV. Both provide HD programming.

Step2
Understand the HD programming offered by Dish Network. It offers Discovery HD Theater, ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD, HD Net, HD Net Movies, TNT HD, Universal HD, HBO HD and Showtime HD. Dish Network also offers about 15 Voom HD channels.
Step3
Be informed about the equipment requirements for DIRECTV. The requirements for the new MPEG-4 channels are the new H20 HD receiver and a dish.
Step4
Understand the equipment requirements for Dish Network. It calls for a satellite dish and an MPEG-4 compatible receiver or DVR.
Step5
Compare the cost of the packages and equipments provided by the two networks. Although, pricing is similar, check their website (or call customer service).
