Things You'll Need:
- Three to Five Hostesses
- A comfortable location (A home is better than an hall)
- Friends & Family
-
Step 1
Select a Date
Six weeks prior to delivery. -
Step 2
Select hostess
Remember these are the ladies that will be picking up the tab and planning the event. Make sure they are willing participants and not cheap. -
Step 3
Do Baby Registry
Register at one location. People usually buy what they like for baby showers. Pick a baby superstore that has everything like Babies'R'Us. -
Step 4
Prepare Guest List
Give to one of your hostess. Invitations should be mailed out four weeks prior. -
Step 5
Share your Ideas
Be sure to let them know what you are envisioning but not in a demanding manner. You do not want to be deemed a momzilla. -
Step 6
Must Have...Real Tablecloths
No paper or plastic. To keep down the cost visit a fabric store and cut and make your self. -
Step 7
Must Have...Fresh Flowers
This will help decorate the room and add a beautiful scent. For your hostess you should purchase corsages. You could also purchase them for honored guess as well. i.e. Grandparents and Godparents. -
Step 8
Must Have...Diaper Raffle
This information should be included on the invitation. Have your guest bring a package of diapers any size and they will be entered in the mother's grand prize drawing. For every package they bring they receive a raffle ticket. For my grand prize drawing I brought a portable DVD player in exchange I did not have to buy diapers until my daughter was ONE year old. -
Step 9
Colors
Do something different. Stir clear off pastels (it’s redundant) - unless that is what you really like. Instead off pastel pink I had magenta and gold. -
Step 10
Games
Use games that are personalized to you. i.e. What was the mother wearing, Facts about mom and dad. If you have a large shower avoid games that have to be performed one person at a time.
