Don't feed your dog supermarket dog food. Your four-legged friend will enjoy and appreciate some home cooking. It is easy to do, just follow these steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups of brown rice
  • 3 and 3/4 cups of water
  • 2-3 chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • dicalcium phosphate (or bone meal)
  1. Step 1

Put chicken, rice and water into the pot and cook it until all the water has been absorbed and chicken and rice cooked through.

  2. Step 2

After rice and chicken have been cooked add oil and dicalcium phosphate (or bone meal). For specific doses of dicalcium phosphate for your dog consult your vet.

  3. Step 3

Store the food in the refrigerator.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add other foods such as eggs and butter to "spice it up" once in a while.

on 7/28/2008 This sounds so great--I have a purebred yellow lab who, every once in a while, gets a whole chicken cooked for him. (This is also how I get my homemade chicken stock.) Then, in the morning, with supermarket dog food (oops), he receives fully cooked chicken. He loves it!
This would be a healthy, easy meal for him!
