How to Build a Lean-To fire

The easiest fire to build is the lean-to fire.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wood
  • Tinder
  1. Step 1

    Gather and make tinder. Tinder can be moss, pine needles, dry leaves tiny branches, wood shavings.

  2. Step 2

    Lay a log down on the upwind side of the fire.

  3. Step 3

    Lay small pieces of wood (about the size of a pencil) leaning against the log.

  4. Step 4

    Lay some pieces of wood a little larger across these pieces.

  5. Step 5

    Lay some bigger sticks on top.

  6. Step 6

    Place some tinder underneath the small sticks.

  7. Step 7

    Light the tinder. You may need to lightly blow on fire.

  8. Step 8

    Enjoy fire.
