How to prep your dirt bike before riding
If your bike has been in storage, chances are you will want to check out a few things before you take it out to the track, desert or trails. There is nothing worse than spending hours driving out to you favorite spot, just to find out that your ride got cut short due to a couple simple oversights.
Things You'll Need
- 8mm t-handle
- 10mm t-handle
- 12mm t-handle
- Medium screw driver (philips and regular)
- spark plug wrench
- Tire Pump/Air Compressor
- Gas
- Transmission Oil
- Engine Oil
- Coolant
- Water Proof Grease
- Spark Plug

Inspect under the bike for any leakages of any sort, and address them before proceeding.

Inspect tires for dry rot or other problems. Plan to replace if necessary.

Clean your chain and lube as normal. Tighten the chain to manufacturer's specification.

Check your tire pressure and set to manufacturer's specification.

Examine fuel lines for wear, aging, brittleness, etc. Replace as necessary.

Fill with fresh gas. Hopefully it was drained before putting into storage.

Drain and replace your motor oil.

Examine radiator hoses. Replace if necessary.

Replace coolant.

Examine break lines, pads, fluids, etc. Replace if necessary.

Examine air filter(s) for condition, replace as necessary.

Lubricate, re-tighten and adjust all control cables (clutch, choke, throttle, etc.).

Install new spark plug.

Examine front fork tubes, fork seals. Service/replace as necessary.

Replace fork oil.
