Step 1
To create a new file in Photoshop for making shadows after it opens up click file and then new. Make sure that Background Contents says “White”.

800 x 600 should be good for most things. If you need it bigger go bigger. If you need it smaller still use 8x6 ‘cause then you can make it smaller easier when in the file.

After you have the file press T on the keyboard. This should select the text tool. If it doesn’t then go click on the T on the thingy to the left.

Select a color and font for the words on the right with the Character menu. If you don't have it to the right then look to the top.

Type out something you want to give a shadow. IE: This is a shadowed text.

Then press control + j on the keyboard to make a copy of the text layer.

Right click on the top layer and select Rasterize Layer.

Go to the Select menu and choose load selection and then click ok.

Go to the edit menu and select fill.

Then press control+A.

Then go to the filter menu, select the blur sub-menu, and then select Gaussian Blur.

Radius of 5.0 is good. Click ok.

Change the Opacity of the layer to half. Adjust as needed.

Move the top layer with the blur below the layer with the text.

Press v on the keyboard to get the move tool. And then arrow down and right, or down and left, or up and right, or up and left, depending on how you want the shadow to fall.

Sit back and bask in the genius that is you.

It’s very important to do number 16 so don’t forget. Do it twice if it doesn’t work the first time. Keep it up until it does.
