Pair Your Bluetooth Phone with Your BMW 3 Series, X3, X5, Z4, M3 and M Roadster

Many new BMWs allow you to connect your cell phone to your in car system. Once you have made this connection via Bluetooth live calls will automatically transition from your phone to your car system as you enter your car. Also, it will allow talk on the phone via your in-car system while you drive.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • BMW (Bluetooth enabled)
  • Bluetooth Passkey
  • Cell Phone (Bluetooth enabled)
  • BMW Owners Manual
  1. Step 1

Start your BMW. It will automatically be in pairing mode for the 2 minutes after it is started.

  2. Step 2

Go to the connections menu in your Bluetooth enabled phone and select "search for devices"

  3. Step 3

You should see an ID appear on your phone that starts with BMW. Select this device ID.

  4. Step 4

Enter the passkey. Once prompted you will only have 20 seconds to complete the task.

  5. Step 5

Now check the radio display. It should indicate that the pairing process was successful. At this point your data will be downloaded into the cars system.

  6. Step 6

Confirm that your contacts have been loaded into the system and perform a test call.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have your manual handy. It will direct you on how to use your internal system once your phone has been paired.
  • Triple confirm your BMW has Bluetooth capability. You may have received a Passkey with your owners manual but this does not mean your car is Bluetooth enabled.

on 1/2/2009 I have a 2005 325is with Bluetooth which was working until a few days ago. Now nothing that relates with the bluetooth feature works. When I select the "phone" item from the "menu" nothing happens. Its as if the Handsoff feature is turned off. It does not do a search for bluetooth. The voice recognition is not working..etc. Any ideas? PS I had to recharge my battery but I could swear it was working after that.
