Step 1
Eat a wide variety of whole foods. Whole foods are single ingredient, unprocessed foods, like fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains.
-
Step 2
Eat plenty of healthy fats, like olive oil, canola oil, flaxseed oil, nuts, nut butters, and avocados. Walnuts and flaxseeds are especially healthy as they provide omega-3 fatty acids.
-
Step 3
Be sure to include a reliable source of Vitamin B-12 in your diet. Eggs and dairy products will provide an adequate amount of this vitamin. If you are vegan or don't eat a significant amount of eggs and dairy, take a B-12 supplement or eat foods fortified with B-12 (such as soymilk).
-
Step 4
If you do eat eggs and dairy products, buy organic whenever possible. This way you will avoid artifical growth hormones and antibiotics found in standard eggs and dairy.
