How to connect with Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition to eNom webhosting

If you are a beginner at ASP.net or just want to create simple web pages then you can use Free Visual Web Developer 2005 Express edition from Microsoft. This application has all the tools to get you started. You also need a webhosting account. This article is specific to the eNom.com webhosting environment.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Visual Web Developer 2005 Express edition
  • eNom.com webhosting account
  • A computer with internet access
  • Some PC skills
  1. Step 1

    Download the Visual Web Developer 2005 Express edition from Microsoft at http://asp.net/downloads/default.aspx . It is free to the public. Install the application with default settings.

  2. Step 2

    Buy an eNOM webhosting account. Make sure to pick one that fits your needs at http://www.enom.com/wsg/default.asp

  3. Step 3

    Launch the Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and select File => Open Web Site

  4. Step 4

    Select FTP Site and type in your base URL and uncheck anonymous login and type in your login and password. You will find the base URL, login and password in your hosting account settings.

  5. Step 5

    The Visual Web Developer 2005 Express edition will now load your remote site and you can start adding files and images and publish your website.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are planning to use ASP.net 2.0 then make sure you change the ASP.net version in your control panel.
