To start your baby off right, it is a good idea to think about healthy eating habits right fro the start. Introducing foods and feeding your baby should be a fun and bonding experience. These habits are a start to "family time" and the habits you form now may continue for years to come.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baby
  • Highchair of infant seat
  • rubber-tipped spon for feeding
  • bib

  1. Step 1

Feed your baby in his or her highchair facing you - rather than in front of the television or a video.

Respect your baby's food choices and food preferences. Don't force him or her to eat what they don't like.

  3. Step 3

Try your best to provide a balance of proteins, fruits, vegetables and carbohydrates. this starts your baby off with the right balance of foods.

  4. Step 4

Dont overfeed your baby. watch for signs that he or she is full.

  5. Step 5

Avoid fast foods as long as possible.

Tips & Warnings

  • Finger foods on the "run" may cause choking.
  • Try not to rush meals.

on 8/30/2008 Good tips! It can take up to 20 tries for a baby to develop a taste for a new food, so re-introducing regularly can help, too. Also, eventually they only want to eat whatever they see YOU eating (even right off your plate), so eating healthy food yourself sets a great example.
