Host a Skeleton Decorating Contest

What did the skeleton wear to the party? A ribbed sweater! Let your guests decide what they want the skeleton to wear to the party by setting up a skeleton decorating contest.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Costume accessories
  • Prizes and awards
  • Trunks or boxes
  • Skeletons on stands
  1. Step 1

Collect a few skeletons on stands (2-4 depending on the number of guests). Use keywords “skeleton on stand” to find them online.

  2. Step 2

Fill a few trunks with the skeleton apparel and accessories. Think leather jackets, blazers, bathrobes, dresses, capes, wigs, hats, gloves, mustaches, earrings, slippers, boots, etc. Peruse Halloween, thrift and vintage stores to collect the wardrobe.

  3. Step 3

Position the trunks and skeletons on opposite sides of the room so contestants have to grab elements from the trunk and run across to dress the skeleton.

  4. Step 4

Separate the party into groups; one for each skeleton. On your queue, let the styling begin. Give everyone 3 minutes to decorate their skeleton as creatively as possible.

  5. Step 5

You be the judge: Look for best dressed, best effort, and most creative. Have prizes and awards on hand to give to the winners then sit back and enjoy the acceptance speeches.

Tips & Warnings
  • Theme the wardrobe for the skeletons to be dressed as celebrities or specific Halloween characters, then tell the teams to dress theirs as “Donald Trump, Frankenstein, Jessica Simpson,” and so on.
