Boiled corn needs to cook for about 10 minutes.

When most people talk about boiling corn, they are talking about dropping a full corn on the cob into a pot. The process isn't tough, but it can go wrong in about 12 minutes -- which is too long for corn to boil. It will start to get soft after 10 minutes of boiling. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

      Fill a pot with enough cold water to cover all of the corn. Turn up the heat under the pot and bring it to a boil.

      Remove the husks and silks from the cob. Run the cob under a faucet to remove any remaining silk.

      Drop the cobs into the water and cover the pot.

    • 4

      Boil the corn for 4 to 10 minutes depending on your preferences. The longer the corn boils, the softer it will be.

      Lift the cob out of the water and shake it off.

Tips & Warnings

  • Salt, pepper, and butter are the most traditional toppings for hot boiled corn. However, some options include cinnamon, feta and black pepper, and cajun seasonings.

    Boil! Why waste the time? Use your large pot, put in a roasting rack on the bottom, use enuf water to come up to the rack level and STEAM! Takes maybe 5 minutes total. No waiting (and wasting energy) for the water to boil.
