You can contribute your thoughts and views on books on the Amazon.com web site to help other customers and web surfers decide on what they want to purchase or read.

Things You'll Need:

• Access to Internet
• Account on Amazon.com
• Familiarity with the book you intend to review

1. Log in to your Amazon.com account.

2. Find the book on the Amazon website.

3. Find "Spotlight Reviews" on the page and click on the link for "Write an online review" just below the heading.

4. Rate the book on a scale from 1 to 5 stars, with 1 being worst and 5 being best.

5. Enter a title for the review.

6. Enter the full text of the review in the provided text box.

7. Certify that you are over the age of 13 (and thereby allowed to contribute a review) by checking the appropriate box.

Tips & Warnings

• Avoid the most common mistakes people make when writing reviews:
• Your job is to tell the viewer about the book, not about yourself. At the end of the review, the reader should have a very clear vision of the book and its contents and a very fuzzy picture of the person contributing the review.
• Judging whether or not the book is any good is very different from saying whether or not you liked it. Most reviewers are unable to understand the difference. You can do better.
• Avoid measuring the book solely against your own existing views and whether or not it happens to reflect them. This is a particularly easy trap to fall into for works of a political nature. There are both great and terrible books espousing all kinds of political views, and it takes real wisdom to recognize the greatness of a book that you disagree with and the weakness of a book that you do agree with. Exhibiting this kind of wisdom can really make you and your review stand out.
