How many times have you found an item in a store and loved it but then realized it had shoulder pads? Some people like shoulder pads, but they are not for everyone. Many people pass up great clothes just because they have shoulder pads in them. With these very simple steps you can buy great looking clothes and remove the shoulder pads in no time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Seam ripper
  • Needle
  • Thread

Sewn-in Shoulder Pads

Step1
Turn the garment inside out and find the shoulder pad area.
Step2
Use your seam ripper and make a small hole about the size of a dime in the middle of the fabric covering the shoulder pad area.
Step3
Begin to pull the shoulder pad out very slowly.
Step4
Find the string on the top of the shoulder pad connecting it to the garment. Use your seam ripper to cut this string and the shoulder pad will slide right out of the hole.
Step5
Stitch up the hole you made to remove the shoulder pad using a similar color thread so that the hole is less noticeable.

Attached Shoulder Pads

Step1
Take your seam ripper and carefully cut the thread attaching the shoulder pad to the garment.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use your seam ripper carefully when cutting the thread to avoid accidentally cutting the fabric of the garment.
