How to reactivate your stereo on a 2001 Honda Civic

If your battery has ever died on your 2001 Honda Civic, you might know what a pain it is to reactivate your stereo without the proper knowledge. If this is your situation, this guide will make your life a lot easier.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2001 Honda Civic

Step1
Start your car.
Step2
Press and hold your "1" and "6" stereo preset buttons at the same time while turning your stereo on.
Step3
A code will be displayed as two sets of numbers, probably one beginning with "u" and the other with "l." Write down this number, minus the letters "u" and "l."
Step4
Take this 8-digit number to your local Honda dealer and ask them for the reactivation code.
Step5
Input this reactivation code into your Honda stereo.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many Honda dealerships are sheisty and will try to get you to pay $72 to tear apart your car to retrieve your stereo serial number. This is not necessary.
