Soda is very tasty to drink but can leave messy stains when spilled. Stains can be dark, sticky and difficult to remove, especially in carpet. The liquid seeps down into the fabric and spreads. However, with time and patience these stains can be removed.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Liquid detergent
  • Paper towel
  • Washcloths
  • Warm water
  • Cold water
  • Vinegar
  1. Step 1

Use paper towels and dab the stain until the paper towel comes up dry.

  2. Step 2

Mix a quarter cup of liquid detergent with a half cup of cold water. Use a washcloth and dab the stain lightly with the mixture. Rub the area with the washcloth allowing the cleaning fluid to penetrate the carpet. Let the stain sit with the detergent on it for about 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Use cold water and a washcloth to rinse the detergent off of the stain by continuously dabbing the stain and rinsing out the washcloth until the water runs clear when the cloth is squeezed.

  4. Step 4

If the stain is still visible, mix a tablespoon of vinegar and three tablespoons of water. Take a washcloth and dab the stain with the vinegar liquid and allow it to sit for about 30 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Wet a washcloth with warm water and dab the stained area to pick up the remaining soda and vinegar. Continue dabbing the area until the cloth is clean.
