The nature of our site enables folks to share what they know, and as such, is a highly-ranked site across the search engines, so articles you post here will definitely drive traffic to your online or offline business. Below are some simple guidelines about how to get started and make the most of eHow to help market your business.

Things You'll Need:

  • Just a business you are trying to market!
  1. Step 1

Set up your profile. Your profile is your home base. From here, you can include all kinds of information on your business – from your URL to your street address. The better your profile, the more likely people will go from there to your business location. We encourage you to upload a picture of yourself or an image that represents your business. And tell folks about yourself personally, the story behind starting your business, your passions, etc.

  2. Step 2

Select topics that are relevant to your business. We’re sure that there are a lot of “how tos” that are relevant to your business –how to shop for antiques, buy a house in Tennessee, change your oil – and we encourage you to create eHows that demonstrate your specialty. This will help explain the benefits of the product or service that you offer.

  3. Step 3

A word to wording. We’ve found that the eHows that are the most popular are the ones that speak simply and directly to its audience. Think of it this way: you have a person surfing the web that could be a potential customer. How would they search for you? What question would they ask? What words would they look for that could lead them to you? By writing your eHow in a way that anticipates your customer, your chances of them finding you increase considerably.

  4. Step 4

Share your articles with your community. Once you have posted your articles, send the URL to your family and friends and ask them to comment on the article and to rate it. This is a great way to build a bigger presence on eHow. The more positive ratings your articles get, the higher your profile is rated. Its similar to eBay, and the folks with better ratings are oftentimes more trusted.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are interested in finding out more about what folks are searching for online, you can go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and type in a word or two that describes your business – such as antiques or realty or oil change – and see what the exact phrases are that people are using to search in your topic.
  • If you have any difficulty setting up your profile or posting your article, let us know at member.service@ehow.com.
