graham crackers, marshmallows, Hershey bar, Hershey kisses, smore skewer, bonfire, beer
Step1
The fire is burning, pull up a chair, be sure you don't burn your hair! The roasting of a marshmallow tends to work best once your bonfire has been burning a while.
Step2
Fully extend your smore skewer and delicately and evenly place your marshmallow on it. Make sure the marshmallow is in the middle.
Step3
Once you have the marshmallow on the skewer, set it aside and break your graham cracker in half and put your Hershey bar or Hershey Kiss(S) on it (not the baby, just the kiss) - the more chocolate, the better. Set this on one of the rocks surrounding the fire. Keep it close enough to the fire so that the chocolate melts, but not so close that you will burn your graham cracker!
Step4
As your chocolate is melting, hold your marshmallow skewer above the flames, slowly turning so that the full marshmallow is golden brown.
Step5
Continue roasting/spinning your marshmallow until desired color is achieved. If you have no patience at all, go ahead and stick the marshmallow in the flame and you can burn it for a crunch outside, and melted inside. Then... you are ready to eat! Enjoy each bite!
Tips & Warnings
If you are at the expert level, you can use a several prong skewer- but leave this for the experts- this is not for beginners.
Do not play with fire. Adults - do not let children roast their marshmallows unattended.

I discovered that you can actually use the microwave to make smores. Do this only if you are desperate though - you can't get the marshmallows to have that crispy, golden or burnt appearance or flavor.
Put 2 large marshmallows on half of a graham cracker and nuke it for only 15 seconds (any longer and your marshmallows will explode to the size of a beach ball). Then, put your chocolate bar on top of the marshmallows and top with the other half of your graham cracker.

on 8/28/2007 A bonfire is a very large fire. A small camp fire would be more appropriate for S'mores.
