How to use MSCONFIG

MSCONFIG can be used to help your computer boot faster and crash less. Also to monitor start up programs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows XP, 98, me
  1. Step 1

    Go to Start>Run

  2. Step 2

    Type in msconfig

  3. Step 3

    This open Microsoft System Config Utilities, click on the Start Up tab

  4. Step 4

    In window 98 and ME,Only starts up you need are:

    Scan Registry
    Task Monitor
    Anti Virus
    System Tray
    Load Power Profile

    In window XP, you dont need anything in this tab.

  5. Step 5

    Uncheck everything else.

  6. Step 6

    Now you're good to restart.
