Playing this putting game called horseshoe is not only a fun game you can play with your pals, but it will also improve your putting.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Putter
  • Putting green
  • 2 golf balls
  • A playing partner
  1. Step 1

The object of the game is to get exactly 21 points. Here's the points break down:
    * 1 point for a ball closest to the hole
    * You get 3 points if both of your balls are closer to the hole than your opponent
    * 5 points for a sinked putt

  2. Step 2

Sound easy enough? You're thinking all you have to do is get your balls closest to the hole. Well essentially that's the whole point. But, there are a few exceptions to the rule. For instance, if you're the first person to putt and you sink one putt. Now it's your partner's turn and he makes 1 putt. This is the catch, your partner steals your points, so after that hole he has 10 points. Stealing an opponents points only happens on sinked putts, you have to sink a putt on top of your opponent's.

  3. Step 3

Here's another thing that might throw you for a loop. In horseshoe there are stymies. What's a stymie? For instance you putt the ball and it winds up just short of the hole, don't you hate it when you leave a putt short? Well now you're ball is blocking the hole and your partner can't have you move your ball. He has to try to work around it, trying to sneak his ball closer. If he knocks your ball in the hole by accident, you get the points.

  4. Step 4

Horseshoe is played hole by hole. With the person winning the previous hole chooses the next hole and goes first.

  5. Step 5

That's how horseshoe is played. Sounds easy enough? Good, cause you remember you have to get exactly 21 points. If you don't you drop down to 13 points.

  6. Step 6

Once you get playing you'll develop ways to outwit your opponent, like with stymies or knocking their ball out of the way.
