A mojito is a delicious sweet mixed drink with flavors of lime and mint. The perfect thing for hot summer days.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • mint leaves: 5-10 big leaves or a few whole sprigs per glass
  • lime: 1 lime or 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • sugar
  • soda water (optional)
  • rum (my favorite part)
  1. Step 1

Put mint leaves in a glass or a bowl and pour in rum. Lightly crush mint leaves with a spoon. Bruising the mint leaves lightly is all you need to do to impart the flavor on the rum, don't crush the hell out of them.

  2. Step 2

Mix in sugar, lime juice and optional soda water, stir.

  3. Step 3

Fill glass with ice cubes and garnish with sprig

Tips & Warnings
  • For advanced makers of mojitos: You can make a sweeter drink by making a syrup by heating water and sugar in a saucepan instead of adding straight sugar. You can dissolve more sugar in hot water than cold water, and pouring it over the ice will keep the drink cold.

on 9/11/2007 You should really make a simple syrup rather than just pour sugar straight into the drink. If you put sugar into a chilled glass, you'll never get it to dissolve.
