The game of golf can be more frustrating than Friday afternoon traffic. If you‘re divots are the most impressive thing about your game you might want to follow these simple steps to golf enlightenment.
Golf is a mental game. Forget about the last shank you just hit and concentrate on your next shot.
Step2
Don’t hack up the course. Go to your local driving range, and even take a few lessons if you have to. If you’re to stubborn to take lessons like most of us, use the driving range and practice, practice, practice.
Step3
Keep practicing at the driving range.
Step4
When lining up to the ball ensure that your shoulders are parallel to the target point that you are aiming at. Your shoulders, hips, feet, and head should all be aligned to this target point. Target point (i.e. the hole).
Step5
Don’t try and hit a homerun. The biggest mistake for most novice golfers is that they try and kill the ball. This results in pulling your head away from the ball and ends in a swearing match with an inanimate object. Remember to watch the ball until the club makes contact.
Step6
Your hips play a very important role in your golf swing. You want to use your hip movement to initiate and control the down swing movement of the club. All of the power from your swing is derived from your hips. Taking a few lessons is the best way to assure you are shifting your hips correctly.
Tips & Warnings
Weekdays and during twilight hours are the cheapest times to play. You can usually get local discounts on public courses as well. For you rebels simply sneak past the first hole and join a group already in play, this equals free golf.
If you live in Florida don't explore murky ponds or lakes for your lost ball...

Totally agree. It's always best to start off swinging easy and make consistent contact. Once you achieve that, then you can start cranking it up. A good way to know if your hips rotated properly is when your belt buckle faces the target after the follow-through.
