Grog - liquor, beer - now a lot of personal experience with this one

The Lucky Country is Australia, where else?

Mongrel is a despicable person - usually used for the Footy umpires

By the way Footy is Australian Rules

Spit the dummy is to get very upset at something
Step10
Bring a plate means bring your own food to a barbie (see point 2). It does not mean they are short on crockery

on 5/17/2008 aussiechick, where do you live? Here in the part of Sydney, The Big Smoke, where I have landed, 'barbie' is a noun referred to the instrument upon which meat is grilled, as well as the festive time, either afternoon or evening, when men grill meat and imbibe grog and their borderline to bad behavior is tolerated.

To my knowledge, "footy" refers to all codes of of football: AFL (Aussie Rules), soccer and 'gridiron'(US football).
