Starting a campfire is easy. Here are a few simple steps to make sure your not in the dark about camping!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wood, logs, twigs, small sticks, large sticks, dry leaves, paper, newspaper, matches or lighter.
  1. Step 1

Before starting make sure you are permitted to acutally have the campfire.

  2. Step 2

Once you are good to go and know the campfire is permitted it's time to start grabbing some wood. Start by getting the pieces of wood organized from small to large pieces.

  3. Step 3

Before you just through the wood into the campfire pit you need to make sure you have a fire ring. If a fire ring is not already available, clear an area that's away from any trees or brush.

  4. Step 4

Now place a small pile of dry leaves, paper and twigs in the center of the fire ring.

  5. Step 5

Then build a tepee like structure of small sticks around these dry leaves and twigs.

  6. Step 6

Next, build a square wall of larger sticks around and up to the height of the tepee.

  7. Step 7

Now drop a match or with lighter, light the dry leaves and twigs until they catch on fire.

  8. Step 8

As the fire begins to grow, add some larger branches across the top to make sure the fire will continue to grow and last for hours.

  9. Step 9

Now you are in cruise control mode and need to just keep adding sticks and branches to the fire for as long as you want the campfire lit.
